A Private Diary App Without Ads: Why Cirflect Exists
July 14, 2026 ยท The Writer
One of the main incomes of social media is, of course, advertising based on what you search on the web. Do you ever feel that your phone hears you? You talk about a trip, and suddenly your phone fills up with offers for sunny getaways. Or you try to read an article on Facebook through a wall of ads pushing in from everywhere. The truth is that your searches, your contacts, your clicks and your locations do the job, creating all the data those companies need to serve you what you wish for. Isn't that disturbing?
Well, it is! In my view, at least. Wouldn't it be better to have a place without all that noise? Why should our need for communication be manipulated for someone else's profit? The answer is simple: Facebook, Instagram and TikTok are companies, and companies don't actually care about you. Or let me say it another way: what they care about is a market worth around 276 billion dollars a year. That's the global social media advertising market in 2025, according to Statista. Yes, you read that right. Billions, every year, built on your own data!
So let's ask the other question now. What if there was a place where you could write without advertising? Without someone trying to make money from your data? How does that sound? Naive? Or maybe stupid? Is there anyone naive or stupid enough to afford to build that kind of platform? The answer is: of course there is. And the name of this platform is Cirflect!
Cirflect is the web-based diary you always wondered if it really exists, in its simplest form. A place to write your thoughts, your day, your notes, everything that bothers you. But most important, it gives you a place away from the noise of social media, and of course free from advertising. There are no likes in Cirflect. There is only support, sent through preset messages: 'Thank you for sharing.' 'You're not alone.' 'Sending you positive thoughts.' 'Stay strong.' 'I'm proud of you.' 'One day at a time.' That is everything one user can say to another. There is no private chat, no free text between users, a decision made from the very beginning, because manipulation needs an open channel to work, and on social media that channel stays wide open: messages drive engagement, and engagement is money.
The conclusion: who pays the bill in Cirflect? Cirflect runs on donations, and since it is a side project, my own salary covers the costs until donations can do the job. A simpler explanation than that, you won't find anywhere!
Cirflect is a private space to write, reflect, and connect with others who understand your journey. If this resonated with you, you're welcome to start writing.
