Why I Stopped Journaling on Social Media
April 12, 2026 ยท The Writer
I was always looking for a place to write my thoughts and opinions without feeling guilty or exposed. Instead, I found algorithms controlling my need to communicate, or feeding my ego. Influencers who have no idea about reality and life. And platforms that use your data for their profit. Nothing wrong with it, they see you as a consumer and nothing else.
This isn't just my frustration. A few days ago, Greece announced a ban on social media for children under 15, starting January 2027. Rising anxiety, sleep problems, addictive design, the reasons are real. And Greece isn't alone. Australia, France, and several other European countries are moving in the same direction.
When governments start stepping in to protect people from these platforms, maybe it's worth asking: is this really where we should be writing our most personal thoughts?
The options weren't many. I just needed a place to write and feel safe. Away from likes and influencers. A place where I could give my support to those who need it, without performing for an audience.
That's how Cirflect came to life.
